Shift Leader

The Café Shift Leader trains and leads our staff to meet our store goals on a daily basis. The Shift Leader also works with managers to keep our team and store aligned with our company’s core values and to resolve customer questions and complaints with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. The Shift Leader embodies a cafe and workplace culture that is high-performing as well as welcoming.

Required Outcomes:

The Café Shift Leader will achieve the following outcomes in 6-12 months of his or her start date:

  1. Submit a revised social media marketing program (2 months).
  2. Organize and coordinate a staff barista competition (2 months).
  3. Oversee increase in retail whole bean coffee and looseleaf tea 20% over previous yr. (2 months).
  4. Work with store leadership team to design and implement a new customer feedback plan (2 months).
  5. Help to raise our customer feedback rating half a star/point (2 months).
  6. Submit a list of specific benchmarks for measuring 3-5 of each of the “Required” and “Other” competencies below. (2 months)

Cafe Assistant Manager

The Café Assistant Manager establishes the maximum operational effectiveness and quality in the store environment. The Assistant Manager is responsible for the experiences of all customers and store personnel, overseeing production and service in both the kitchen and the front of the house. The Assistant Manager is responsible also for any offsite catering functions and for adequate staffing of store operations. Foremost among the AM’s priorities are safety and service, with safety being the foundation of great experiences for all. The Assistant Manager embodies our high standards in work habits and manners.

Required Outcomes:

The Café Assistant Manager will achieve the following outcomes in 6-12 months of his or her start date:

  1. Submit a revised operations manual (12 months)
  2. Complete a selected certified Barista or Other Training program (6 months)
  3. Oversee increase in-store sales 20 percent over preceding year (12 months)
  4. Design and implement a new customer feedback plan (6 months)
  5. Design and implement a new employee feedback plan (12 months)
  6. Raise our customer feedback rating from 4 to 5 stars (12 months)
  7. Hire and retain 90 percent A-team performers (12 months)

Kitchen Leader

The Kitchen Leader trains and leads our kitchen staff to meet our store goals on a daily basis. The Kitchen Leader also keeps our team and store aligned with our company’s core values and helps us all to resolve customer questions and complaints with the utmost professionalism and courtesy. The Kitchen Leader creates a back-of-the-house team environment that is high-performing as well as welcoming.

Required Outcomes:

The Kitchen Leader will achieve the following outcomes in either 6 or 12 months of his or her start date:

  1. Submit a revised training program (6 months).
  2. Complete a serve safe certification or recertification program (6 months)
  3. Oversee increase in-store food sales 20 percent over preceding year (12 months)
  4. Design and implement a new store food menu (6 months)
  5. Raise our customer feedback rating on food in particular from 4 to 5 stars (12 months)
  6. Hire and retain 90 percent A-team players (12 months)

Required Knowledge & Experience
The Kitchen Leader knows how to operate the kitchen “soup to nuts” as it were, meaning from beginning to end. The Kitchen Leader’s knowledge base includes best practices in food safety, inventory management, staff management, and equipment maintenance. Kitchen Leaders should have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a busy kitchen before assuming the responsibilities of this role.

Wage/Salary Range: $35-40,000+/year. Salary and Benefits negotiable.
